The ‘caveman skincare regime’ anyone? We seem to be going Paleo with our diets these days so what about going back to basics in other areas of our lives too? I stumbled upon a new skincare fad recently…
The Caveman Regime – the basics – you do not wash your face… like…at all. No cleansing, exfoliating, toning or moisturising. I’m guessing sunscreen is probably out of the questions too.
I get it, I really do, we probably use many ingredients on our faces that are more harmful and irritating than good, products that strip our skin and do worse damage and I am sure there are some folks out there who have had amazing acne clearing results from a ‘no wash’ approach. I don’t think that I will ever be giving that one a go and it comes down to mainly two factors; Un – I love a product and Deux – I prefer to be clean and feel fresh. Taking ‘going back to ones roots’ perhaps a little too far I think?
If you’re like me and you enjoy treating your skin here are a few of my favorite beauty buys of late…
A great way to clean ones skin without stripping it is cleansing balms and if you want to save a buck, good old coconut oil is great. I’ve been loving the Clinique take the day off cleansing balm, it’s gentle and effective. Speaking of taking the day off; Bioderma make-up removing micelle solution is a winner! I am terribly late to the party on this one as beauty buffs have been gushing over it for years and of course it is worth the hype, great at removing eye make-up and you can pick it up in Clicks.
Another one to hit Clicks is the Avene Eau Thermale range and I’ve been spritzing myself non stop with the Eau Thermale spring water spray. A two centuries old natural spring in France, what’s not to love? Mainly used for sensitive skin, they have a great range that I look forward to trying more of.
A tricksy little 3for2 on Sorbet had me trying their Vitamin Rescue masque and I love it! Vitamins A C & E along with Shea butter, lovely and hydrating with that fresh clean smell. The non skincare contender is the Lush I love juicy shampoo. The smoothie of shampoos, this little beauty is making my hair soft and clean without drying it and a little goes a long way. Mango, papaya, kiwi and pineapple – juicy indeed.
